GS500F forever gone
I need to change the banner image of this blog. My GS500F is no more in my hands. A young rider will be taking it on the road this summer. I sold it. I've had really good fun with it and now, someone else will. Does this mean I will stop riding???

MotoBatt Batteries
I've always had some kind of problem with batteries in winter time. When I first got my motorcycle, my battery died through the winter after 6 months or so. I decided to get a new battery and purchased one from Amazon.ca. It was a MotoBatt branded AGM battery. I checked later it was made in China but heck, what isn't made in China these days. So, I was using this MotoBatt battery throughout the year until this past Tuesday.
Leading up to this past Tuesday, I started having problems starting my bike in January. The cold wasn't that cold with only a couple of days of -15C when I rode out there. You'd think the battery would be effected by the weather, but not to the point that my bike wouldn't start. Well, it got bad pretty badly. I couldn't start my bike many times out in the cold for a couple of months. That sucked big time. I've had to use a portable battery to start up my bike or do push starts. Either way, it's a pain, in the cold.
A couple of weeks ago, I had my battery and stator checked out. The stator was fine. The battery was not. It wasn't hold a charge in the cold. The good thing is the battery comes with a two-year warranty, so I then contacted MotoBatt in the U.S. They referred me to a distributor in Canada. I think there is only one distributor, and there is a dealer in Newmarket, a good 60km from my place. The dealer had accepted to honor the warranty. I rode my bike up, getting there at 8am. It was chilly and I was underdressed but it was a fun ride nonetheless. I got a brand new battery and installed it. My bike roared to a start and I made my way back down.
The point of my story is that I had a good experience with MotoBatt and their warranty policy. Thumbs up.
